Accelerating Literacy

Ensuring students receive research-based reading instruction and educators are trained in the science of reading.

A child’s ability to read is a fundamental skill for a successful future.

State leaders play a direct role in ensuring all children have access to a quality education. The Bush Institute works to:

  • Help state leaders understand how the ability to read unlocks opportunity for people and why following a science of reading approach is essential for student success.
  • Highlight success – both in the classroom and in how we prepare and support educators to teach reading effectively.
  • Push for teacher preparation and professional development programs to use the science of teaching reading in their materials and approach.
