Immigration expert Laura Collins, Director of the Bush Institute-SMU Economic Growth Initiative, joined The American Lyceum to debate how to update America's outdated immigration system.
“At the Bush Institute we really believe that America benefits from immigration, but we have a very outdated system – one that really doesn’t serve the needs of our country anymore.”
Collins shared three ideas to tackle the challenges the system is currently facing.
- Expand employment-based pathways to immigration
- Streamline adjustment of status to citizenship
- Think globally and regionally about the border crisis
The American Lyceum is focused on rebuilding civil society through innovative research and hosting solution-focused debates.
