District Costs for Teacher Health Insurance: An Examination of the Data from the BLS and Wisconsin

Rising health insurance costs have caused fiscal distress for school districts. This paper describes the health and medical benefits provided to the nation’s education workforce and suggests means by which efficiencies can be made. The author examines data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and newly available data from Wisconsin to quantify the impact of recent changes in collective bargaining law.
