Interviews with Berta Soler

Interviewed November 22, 2024

The first thing I would say is that we are very humble women. We do not think we are inspiration for other countries, but we would say that as long as there are dignity and principles they should fight for what the government robs from them: freedom and democracy.

I would say that it is very important to fight, raise their voices, and to say “no.” “No” to the violence, to dictatorship and to totalitarianism.

I would say that we – the Ladies in White – do it daily and I wish that like us, those countries would also say “no.” We know that to say “no” in countries with totalitarian governments and dictatorships is very difficult because it can cost you your life.

But it does not matter. That is how the struggle is. It has a high price but it is worth it. It is worth it.
