Engage at the Bush Center, presented by Highland Capital Management
A distinguished panel of former U.S. Secret Service agents will pull back the curtain and discuss all that goes into protecting the President of the United States. As a companion event to the Bush Center’s special exhibit, Presidential Retreats: Away From the White House, the former agents will discuss the intricacies and coordination required to protect the President everywhere, including while getting away from Washington and even during overseas travel.
We’ll hear from Larry Buendorf, who intervened during an assassination attempt on President Gerald Ford in 1975, grabbing the gun from assailant Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme and forcing her to the ground; Joe Clancy, former director of the U.S. Secret Service and head of the protective division; and Nick Trotta, who was a member of President Bush’s protective detail on 9/11 and was on the field at Yankee Stadium as President Bush threw out the first pitch before Game 3 of the 2001 World Series. Former White House advisor Spence Geissinger will moderate the conversation, which is sure to be both informative and entertaining.
