Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith headlines a virtual program on the State of the American Dream, a theme also being explored in the upcoming edition of the Bush Institute digital journal of ideas, The Catalyst. Cullum Clark, the Director of the George W. Bush Institute-SMU Economic Growth Initiative will moderate a discussion on what the American Dream means in 2021. Smith and Clark will be joined by Jorge Lima, who is the senior vice president of policy at Americans for Prosperity and leads immigration efforts at the nonprofit, Stand Together; and Dionne Gumbs, CEO and Founder of GenEQTY, a technology solution that aims to close the wealth gap by giving women the tools they need to take command of their financial lives.
Smith has been nominated for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his work in support of the minority business community, including launching the Minority Entrepreneurship Institute in partnership with RISE Sports Advisors and the Sagamore Institute.
Topics will include innovation, immigration, entrepreneurship, and the path to faster, more inclusive growth and opportunity.
